Reference Room

When you visit the BC Archives, the Reference Room is where you will do your research. Here, you can search our online catalogues and indexes, consult our finding aids and older card catalogues, browse photographs in the Photo Reference Room, make copies of digitized images, read and copy from microfilmed records and newspapers, and request original records and library material.  Outlets are available for laptop computers.

Staff are available during full service hours to help you locate and retrieve the material you need and to assist you in your research.   During partial service hours access and services are limited and staff are not available for research or technical assistance or with the retrieval of records.

Due to health concerns arising from exposure to scented products, the
BC Archives endeavours to provide a scent-free environment for staff, volunteers and others using our facilities.

Please read our Research Orientation Guide before you arrive for a research visit at the BC Archives as it will  prepare you for your visit, providing you with important information on our rules, policies and procedures.
