Human History

The Human History Section studies and collects artifacts relating to the aboriginal and non-aboriginal human history of British Columbia. Curators and Collection Managers do original research, collect artifacts, and ensure that the collection is properly cared for and documented. We provide information about British Columbia to other museums and to the general visitor; we undertake training programs, present public programs on aspects of British Columbia, and select objects to go on display in the Royal British Columbia Museum. We collect and preserve artifacts to document British Columbia’s past and to tell stories that our written history cannot adequately portray. The artifacts we preserve chart the history of British Columbia and ensure that the province’s heritage is available for present day appreciation and future understanding.
