Research Interests
Ken is interested in the classification and conservation of terrestrial vascular plants. He is also interested in ethnobotany, specifically the origin and domestication of crop species. His most recent research was on the domestication and ethnobotany of four species of Asian Cucurbitaceae (the squash and cucumber family).
Projects
Flora of northern British Columbia especially emphasizing the alpine flora, and to a lesser extent weeds and grasses of northern BC
The use of chloroplast DNA markers to trace the direction of migration of alpine species into BC following the most recent glacial time and to evaluate the possibility of full-glacial refugia in areas traditionally thought to have been covered by ice.
