Ecosections
of the Thompson-Okanagan Region

Northern Thompson Upland Ecosection
-0% protected wilderness
-few remaining unroaded areas

Clear Range Ecosection
-0% fully protected wilderness
-only 1% partially protected

Okanagan Highland Ecosection
-only 2% in parks
-only 4% remains unroaded

Eastern Thompson Upland Ecosection
-0% protected wilderness
-only 2% remains unroaded, mainly high elevation

Southern Thompson Upland Ecosection
-only 0.3% in parks
-only 5% remains unroaded

Thompson Basin Ecosection
-0% protected wilderness
-0% remaining unroaded areas

Okanagan Basin Ecosection
-only 2% in parks
-only 1% remains unroaded
-one of the most endangered natural areas in Canada

Okanagan Range Ecoregion
-32% in parks, mainly high elevation
-no protection for ponderosa pine or bunchgrass zones and little of the interior Douglas-fir
