FIELD MARKS
The Blue-headed Vireo has a dark grey head with distinct white eye-rings,
lores and throat. It has an olive-green back and rump and a blackish tail.
This vireo has two white or yellowish wing bars. This vireo was commonly
known as the "Solitary Vireo". Approximate length: 12 cm
HABITAT
The Blue-headed Vireo lives in open mixed forests with both coniferous and
deciduous trees.
NESTING
The nest of the Blue-headed Vireo is usually low, on a horizontal fork in
a tree. It is made of grass, bark, weeds and plant fibres. The outside of
the nest is sometimes decorated with moss, pine needles and pieces of paper.
The female lays 3-5 whitish eggs that have brown and black spots.
