Help us to preserve and protect two of BC's most historic buildings
Located next to Thunderbird Park, Helmcken House and St Ann’s Schoolhouse are two of BC’s most historically rich buildings. Right now, there’s no way to stop a fire in either building should one start. A significant piece of BC history would be lost forever.
These buildings are places of learning. People have been coming to Helmcken House to experience the collections and immerse themselves in the Helmcken family’s history since the 1940’s.
We need your help to ensure that Helmcken House and St Ann’s Schoolhouse remain here for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
Your donation makes a difference
With 60% of our funding coming from government and with recent provincial funding cuts to the museum and archives, financial support from the community has never been more essential.
Your donation goes directly to our most urgent fundraising priorities. In addition to our current campaign for protection and preservation of Helmcken house and St Ann’s Schoolhouse, you can direct your gift to one of the following:
Museum and Archival Collections
The
Caring for the Collections Fund was established in 2008 to provide financial support to the Royal BC Museum for preservation projects, activities, and initiatives. Every artifact and specimen within our museum and archival collections is unique and an important part of BC’s history. Over 7 million items are at risk of deterioration due to outdated facilities and require specialized attention for preservation.
Education and Learning
Our public programs bring the stories and learning from our collections to life but are done so with a small staff, modest funding, and volunteer resources. The Program Possibilities Fund was founded in 2008 to create a stable source of funding dedicated to the ongoing work of the Royal BC Museum in developing and providing educational, entertaining and inspiring experiences.
