The Rapid Spread of the European Wall Lizard
Gavin Hanke, Curator of Vertebrate Zoology

Reports show that by 2016, the invasive European Wall Lizard had spread from Oak Bay  to Campbell River, with a growing population on Denman Island, and lizards reported even at Tribune Bay on Hornby. Single records are now known from Osoyoos and North Vancouver. Dr. Gavin Hanke, curator of vertebrates, will discuss the spread of the European Wall Lizard, methods of transport and release, and the possible impact of this invasive species on island ecosystems.
