Phabulous Phytoplankton

Join Ocean Networks Canada to learn about the ocean food web through exciting hands-on activities. Discover how the smallest plants and animals in the ocean are connected to the largest, and everything in between! Learn about phytoplankton and zooplankton: how do these unique organisms travel through the water column and what do they look like? Understand how we can track algal blooms and how they can affect human health. Finally, find out how plankton even support humans through aquaculture from oyster farms to Indigenous clam gardens.

This hands-on session is geared to middle-school-age children and their families. Ocean loving moms are especially welcome to celebrate Mother’s Day with Ocean Networks Canada and the Royal BC Museum!

These activities are offered as part of Science Odyssey, Canada’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics #OdySci #knowtheocean @ocean_networks
