British Columbia is known for its spectacular nature but there is little awareness of the many species under threat. Through a hands-on program, Species at Risk, a travelling exhibition from the Royal BC Museum looks at why certain species are at risk, what their loss could mean and how you can help. In 2015 our customized teardrop trailer visited the Okanagan and, in 2016, it headed for the Kootenays. In the summer of 2017 it was the far northeast of the province that beckoned. Each year, two travelling interpreters shared information and engaged with locals to learn more about species and environments at risk of going extinct or becoming extirpated.
