A horizontal memorial carving depicting a Killer Whale with an Eagle on its back was photographed at t’anuu ‘llnagaay (eelgrass town) by Charles F. Newcombe in 1911. He purchased the carving from a man from t’anuu ‘llnagaay who was then living at Skidegate. (T’anuu ‘llnagaay was no longer inhabited.) Only the Killer Whale was installed in Thunderbird Park in 1941. Photographs show that, at one time, the Eagle was added to the carving for a short period.
