Four workmen repairing the tracks
Quatre travailleurs réparant la voie ferrée

This image represents the wilderness and the people who were affected by the railways that came into the Yukon. In the early 20th century, the advancement of technology and development was weaving itself throughout Canada. Despite its geographical location, the Yukon was not immune to the influence that modern development and specifically the railways brought to many communities. Although railways were laid with good intentions, their impacts on the local Yukon population and the natural landscape were both negative and positive.
