Friends of the BC Archives Speaker Series
Rock art, including pictographs (paintings) and petroglyphs (carvings), is found throughout British Columbia in every First Nations territory. Wherever it appears, rock art is created with deep consideration of specific places and circumstances.
Black History Month Fashion Show
In partnership with the University of Victoria and the Royal BC Museum, the BC Black History Awareness Society presents an evening of history, culture and fashion. Students, families and others will model African prints from local designers while Black history radio capsules created by students in the French and Francophone Studies section of the School of Languages, Linguistics and Culture at the University of Victoria will play.
Celebrate Black History Month at the Royal BC Museum with a dynamic display of booths from local organizations, hosted by the BC Black History Awareness Society.
Heritage Day is an opportunity to meet and talk with direct descendants about their stories and family history. The exhibits include images, artifacts and archival documents.

Start the new year with a moment of stillness and reflection in our galleries. Discover self-guided activity stations designed for mindfulness and intention, including gratitude exercises, poetry writing, breathwork and self-guided tours. Enjoy a peaceful journey through the exhibits at your own pace.
Experience the serenity of the Natural History gallery during a one-hour yoga session in the immersive forest diorama, led by Natalie Wright from One Yoga Victoria. This unique setting combines mindfulness and movement amidst a backdrop of natural beauty and sounds. Please bring your own yoga mat, as mats will not be provided. Please bring your own water bottle. All levels are welcome. Arrive early to settle in and connect with the calming atmosphere.
