Night Shift: Dark Circus

This Halloween, allow yourself to be seduced by the dark side at our adult-only after-hours party. Night Shift: Dark Circus will be an evening like no other. Surrender to your sinister side and follow the ringmaster into a mesmerizing night of aerial art, illusion, live music and more… in Victoria’s original cabinet of curiosities.

Explore the themed galleries and enjoy nibbles and delectable drinks at multiple cash bars provided by Truffles Catering.

Costume Contest

Dress to impress for The Bay Centres Costume Contest!

  • Best Individual Costume - wins $200 GC to the Bay Centre
  • Best Couple costume - wins $300 GC to the Bay Centre
  • Best Group - wins $500 GC to the Bay Centre

Criteria

Costume related to our theme of “Dark Circus”
Costume is unique (not store bought, or if store bought, it has been modified)

Consideration will be given to costumes that are funny/sexy/scary/cool

Procedure

During the evening, tickets for best costume will be handed out by the Ring Master and museum staff. Only participants who receive a ticket can take part in the costume contest.

Contestants should gather 10 minutes prior to the costume contest in the main hall on the first floor. 

Best Individual, then best couple then best group costumes will parade. Each category will be narrowed down to a top three by museum judges. Audience applause will determine the final winner in each category.

Please note that most of our event venues are intimate spaces with limited capacity. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, so plan your evening accordingly.

This is a 19+ only event. Valid photo ID is required for entry. To ensure the safety of our guests and museum collections alike, Security will conduct ID, bag and spot checks at the entrance. Prohibited items include any controlled substance, alcohol (not purchased at the event) and dangerous items. Any items not permitted at the event will be collected at the door prior to entry. The Royal BC Museum will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.
