Government records series are often large, make sure you identify which boxes you from a series you want. To find box, container, or microfilm numbers review the file list attached to the series description:
Check for restrictions. If a series has privacy restrictions, you will need to submit a request to the privacy department for access. See more information here
Private records are generally organized by fonds (PR) and series (MS). Use the series, file or item reference code to request specific records rather than the PR number.
Private records can be extensive as well, use attached file lists or finding aids at the series level to make your request specific.
The library collection is catalogued by NW, NWp or NWs prefixes – include the entire number in your request, and add the title of the volume to the notes field.
Old MS records are not fully described in our online catalogue. If you suspect that there may be an old MS record relevant to your research, you will need to consult with an archivist prior to submitting your request.
