Wonder Sunday: A Sleepy World

Bring the whole family and join us every Sunday for exploration, excitement and family fun.

Don’t wake up the bear! Hibernation is important, and we’ll learn all about it.

For this Wonder Sunday only and to follow along the theme of hibernation, Alejandra Zubiria Perez will join in on the topic and chat about her current findings on grizzly bears.

Alejandra is a UVIC researcher who is currently studying the movement behaviour of grizzlies in the western slopes of central Alberta. While collaborating with the Foothills Research Institute to develop a simulation model, Alejandra was able to collect data on topography, food distribution and availability, and human activity and document how those factors affect land use patterns of the grizzly bears. Check out her 3 Minute Thesis winning here.

This event will take place in the Natural History Gallery
